Detailed Summary

The Plant Paradox Diet was first discussed in this book, The Plant Paradox. It focuses on healthy foods that cause weight gain and lead to chronic diseases. According to the former physician and cardiologist, we cannot eat foods that are high in lectins just because they appear healthy to us. It also provides you with a knowledge of what to eat if you are trying to lose weight and what kind of foods to eliminate from your meals in order to be physically healthy.

The plant paradox diet does not limit you to any style of diet like three-meal, six-meal, or intermittent fasting. It is up to you how many meals you want to consume just avoid lectin.  However, it is recommended that you start a three-day cleanse to restore the health of your gut and repair any damage that has been done before beginning the Plant Paradox Programme. This includes beef, sugar, dairy, legumes, and root vegetables. By limiting these, your gut will begin to heal itself and the inflammation will be reduced.

The Plant Paradox Summary Key Points

What Looks Healthy Isn’t Necessarily Healthy

Take a pause and go Look at some of the most famous food blogs. You will find chia seeds, kale, and berries being used in their recipes from day tonight.

Now some of this food is healthy. There is no doubt about that but if you’re on a calorie deficit they cause you more harm than good. These foods despite being healthy have a huge amount of calories in them. One of the eatables you need to avoid in such a situation is lectins, an anti-nutrient that is found in MOST of the plants. Using lectins in your diet on a regular basis causes you to gain weight and may cause many serious diseases. The Plant Paradox program aims to teach you all these facts about healthy and unhealthy consumption of plants so that you can remain healthy and avoid dangers to your health. This diet may seem difficult to follow but in reality, it is not and it does wonders for your health.

Lectins are the real monsters

Lectins kind of…make you forget how to think. No, I am not kidding.  These are the real monsters that are masking themselves as healthy proteins!!

When you consume lectins, they bind with carbohydrates which makes it further difficult for our digestive systems to hydrate. Further worsening the problem is the fact that there are only specific ways you can cook them in order to avoid stomach problems and food poisoning.

One common example of such negligence is us putting raw or undercooked kidney beans from our salads into our tacos. And consuming these on a regular basis just because the media has made us think that they are extremely healthy and safe to consume. In reality, no no large consumption of raw kidney beans can cause your red blood cells to clump and clog because of phytohaemagglutinin, a type of lectin. The symptoms vary from bloating and gas to diarrhea which can last for days.

The Plant Paradox Diet

The Plant Paradox Diet can be a game-changer for those who are on a calorie deficit diet, lectin-sensitive individuals, and those who have pre-existing digestive issues. The author also advises you to take less gluten-containing grains because they also have the lectin proteins. The plant paradox diet does not limit you to any style of diet like three-meal, six-meal, or intermittent fasting. It is up to you how many meals you want to consume just to avoid lectin in your diet. So, less or more food consumption does not matter in this diet.

The Plant Paradox Quotes

“In addition to the potential to cause health problems, lectins can also stimulate weight gain. The reason that wheat became the grain of choice in northern climates is thanks to a uniquely small lectin in wheat, known as wheat germ agglutinin (WGA), which is responsible for wheat’s weight-gaining propensity.” –Steven R. Gundry

“I will go so far as to say that if you’re overweight, there’s a good chance that it’s because you’re a believer in the myth of “whole-grain goodness.” Distressingly, the renaissance of whole-grain products has reintroduced WGA (wheat germ agglutinin)  and a host of other lectins back into our diet.” –Steven R. Gundry
